the best way to permanently hide hair transplant scars

Scars are an inevitable by-product of hair transplant surgery. FUT surgery (follicular unit transplantation), sometimes referred to as FUSS (follicular unit strip surgery) creates linear scars at the back of the head. FUE procedures (follicular unit extraction) creates a cluster of small round scars in the donor area, usually at the back of the head between the ears.

Scalp micropigmentation is routinely chosen by thousands of hair transplant patients every year to hide these scars. For clients who wish to make their scars less visible, or perhaps want to shave their heads, scalp micropigmentation is the best and most convenient solution available.

We also work on different types of scars. If you’ve had an injury, a burn or have had neurosurgery, contact our team as we can tailor our approach to suit your needs.

How does the process work?

The first step is to thoroughly assess your scars. This can often be done using photos supplied by email or private message, however we would carry out a further in-person assessment on the day of your first treatment session.

In particular we assess the position, size, color and texture of your scar tissue. We also assess whether the scar is indented, protruding or flat, and to what extent it has healed. We are usually able to provide an estimate of what extent of camouflage you can expect.

We treat your scar over 2-4 sessions. Each session is usually brief, around 1-2 hours per sitting. FUT (strip) scars can take longer to work on than FUE (dot) scars.

During each session we pigment the scar to reduce the contrast between your scar and the surrounding healthy skin. In many cases we are able to achieve a concealment result of 90% or more.
